Ticket https://issues.cask.co/browse/CDAP-8531 found that if the property hive.compute.query.using.stats is true, it can cause CDAP Explore queries that trigger a MapReduce to fail. This happens in HDP 2.5.x. The fix has been set for CDAP 4.2. We should add this to the documentation for CDAP 4.1 as a known issue.
