I created a pipeline from a Dataprep Kafka connection. The generated Kafka source has format text and on output field that is bytes. To make it consistent, I changed the format to binary. That causes a strange effect on the schema part of the dialogue, it shows lots of arrows and "no schema available". See screenshot. Changing the format back to text does not fix it.
